We strive to provide the cleanest and safest products available that really work.
We investigate each company and product line before investing in and bringing a line into our salon.
This process includes:
1. Looking at the ingredients. Do they appear to be natural & healthy, and contain organic and natural ingredients?
2.. Open the bottle and smell it. Does it smell "perfumey"? A LOT can be detected by smell alone If it smells like perfume, its not going to be good for you.
3. Visit the companies website. Do they project an image of health and wanting to be more natural and toxin free?Although, marketing can be misleading, if a company does not even attempt to talk about natural ingredients or ethical sourcing, then it doesn't. Sales reps can be very misleading, intentionally or by not being properly educated. If you visit a company's website though, and they do not talk about the above mentioned, then it is not a priority to them. If it was, they would put it out in the forefront.
4. Ingredients.
A. At first glance, do the ingredients look good. Some healthy ingredients can actually look unnatural, if they are listed in their scientific name, so this CAN be misleading. Which means you have to go to the next step...
B. Research the ingredient list. If you don't know what an ingredient is, you can look it up. The easiest way that we do this is to visit www.ewg.org/skindeep/. Here you can look-up your product. It will be rated on a scale of 0-10. We strive to carry products that are low on that scale. If a product is not listed, you can create your own report. You can put in all of the ingredients and even save it, and find out what the safety score is.!
C. Are ALL of the ingredients listed? When you are researching a company or product, take notice if ALL of their ingredients are listed. If it has a partial list, or a list that just includes something like most "beneficial" ingredients, this is a red flag. Companies that do not include a COMPLETE ingredient list, and only highlight some ingredients, are usually hiding something.
D. Aspects we believe are important are natural, organic, gluten-free, not tested on animals, ethically sourced, non-GMO ingredients, cruelty free and vegan.
5. Last, we test.
A. Safety first. . If a product & company passes all of the above, we next test it. As the owner of Stasia's Organic Element Salon, I am extremely sensitive. Its the reason I created my salon. If I can use it without a reaction, it is almost always safe to use. I cannot count the number of times a product appeared safe at first glance, and then we tried it on myself, there was a reaction, and then we found out it was not safe.
B. Does it work? Working in the salon every day behind the chair gives us a great advantage to try out many different products on all different kinds of guests to find out what really works and what people really like at home.
All of the products in our beauty shop are those that have been tried and tested, and have proven to be our favorites, as well as loved by our guests.
